CSR DEVELOPMENTS BUILDS FORESTRY TEAM, APPOINTS
DIRECTOR OF STRATEGIC RESOURCE VALUATION
Dr. James Thrower Brings
Expertise in Forestry Valuation and Inventory
Mill Bay, British Columbia, Canada, July 11, 2007 -- CSR Developments,
an international developer of ecologically responsible and
environmentally friendly tropical hardwoods, has appointed
Jim Thrower as Director of Strategic Resource Valuation.
Thrower will report to Wayne Dunn, CSR Developments President and CEO.
Dr. Thrower brings over 20 years of experience in the forestry
industry to CSR Developments' resource valuation role. One of North
America's leading experts in the inventory and valuation
of standing timber reserves, he will focus on furthering
the company's understanding of the inventory of submerged
tropical timber in Volta Lake - the largest underwater tropical
timber harvesting operation ever undertaken - and in other
areas under consideration for harvesting. As a member of
the CSR Developments senior executive team, he will contribute valuable
strategic and operational expertise that he gained having
built and managed one of Canada's leading forest industry
consulting firms.
"Performing the underwater timber inventory and valuation
is the first phase of the Volta Lake venture and critical
to evaluating other resource recovery opportunities. Jim
Thrower has the expertise and knowledge required for this
undertaking. His statistical modeling expertise coupled
with his extensive problem-solving, analysis, and research
and development experience enables CSR Developments to gain critical
upfront insight into the value of resources that we are
exploring for recovery", said Mr. Dunn on the appointment.
"Jim and his team are developing the state of the art
systems and process for valuing resources beginning with
the new challenge of recovering underwater timber. His information
allows CSRD to focus our underwater recovery operations
in areas that promise the maximum return on investment for
CSRD and our stakeholders."
Dr. Thrower has been working as a consultant to CSR Developments since
July 2006, through the consulting firm he founded in 1991
and which was acquired by another consulting firm in early
2006. As President of J.S. Thrower and Associates Ltd. for
15 years, Dr. Thrower was a consultant to the forest industry
and government in the areas of growth and yield, site quality
evaluation, inventory, sampling theory and application,
quantitative silviculture, and forest biometrics. Earlier
in his career, Dr. Thrower was a biometrician for the BC
Ministry of Forests. He has a Ph.D. in Forestry from the
University of British Columbia.
"I am excited to play a strategic role as CSR Developments applies
its unique vision of recovering tropical hardwoods in an
eco-friendly way, while delivering financial value to its
shareholders and the local communities. We are developing
an expertise that doesn't exist today. Our advanced systematic
approach toward resource analysis and valuation will set
us apart from others in the industry and will allow us to
develop and operate high-value resource concession which
is at the core of what makes CSR Developments attractive to its stakeholders,"
said Dr. Thrower.
